Advanced Metal Evaporated media aids in providing a tape drive that needs minimal cleaning and virtually no head clogging. This drive has a mean time before failure (MTBF) rating of 300 000 hours at a 30 percent duty cycle. If the AIT 50-GB drive is used eight hours a day seven days a week (33 percent duty cycle) the heads are rated to last over 10 years!
